While excitement at work kicked in pretty hard for me in 2011, it also hindered me to do a lot of exploring outside of my job description and workplace. It’s a good thing though that despite the demands of my job, I was able to do a bit of traveling last year.

First off, I did two international travels – one for leisure and another for business. It was a revisit to countries that have been in my “gone to” list. Nevertheless, there were new adventures with the comfort of familiarity.

I never thought I’d be able to remember my way around KL. But I did and again played the guide for my friend and sorority sister. But what made our trip more memorable was our mishap with our plane ride to Langkawi which resulted in an instant road journey. It felt like being in the Amazing Race with plans not going as expected.

Bangkok is one city I am very much at home with. This is one city I didn’t try to create a map in my head but I always seem to find my way around. Again, the traveler within me pushed me to the “guide” role as if on default.

Next, even with my busy work schedule, I still managed to do some local trips. I went to Baguio, Philippines’ summer capital, twice in a row. The mountain chill gave me a welcome respite from the city heat.

There was also cool Tagaytay which was spent having fun with friends on an overnight weekend.

And also because of work, I have become a regular overnight stayer in Los Baños, Laguna. I like the town and also the Trace College hotel.

Lastly, the year was made complete with another trip home to lovely Bacolod City. There is now a flyover in my hometown. It always seemed new every time I go back. But it is the only place that gives me a feeling of “home”.

I haven’t booked anything for 2012 but I hope that I will be blessed to travel again within the country and internationally. Gee, I’m getting restless…it’s time to embark on another adventure.
