Welcome First-time Travelers! Read This As Guide To My Site

* The articles you’ll find here are a culmination of my thoughts, experiences, and observations. They’re precious to me, so please, no copying or reprinting without my permission. And speaking of photos, those are all my handiwork too! So please, if you’re intrigued by any of my visuals, ask for permission before using them. Once granted, proper credits are a must [Photo by Claire Algarme of https://firsttimetravels.com]. I want to make things easy for you. If you want to view the full list of articles I wrote on this site, click the Table of Contents tab. If you are looking for a particular topic or destination, you may also use the Search box at the header.

Are you going on a trip to a particular place for the first-time? Will you be setting foot in a foreign and unfamiliar soil? Rest assured that you have fellow travelers on the road who are embarking on new journeys.

I have been to many places, and the first time I stepped into unfamiliar territory I had to feel my way and rely on what I have on-hand especially when all I had were travel books, maps and print-outs from the web. My friends and I make our own itinerary. It is truly advisable to check out anything about the place before going on a trip.

Yet, you need not necessarily hire a travel agent or tour guide to get you around every time you visit a place for the first time. A little help from locals can add spice to your first-time travels. It can give you the freedom to explore the place and enjoy the feeling of not spending much, based on my own travel experiences.

You can take my word for some tips and information on the places I visited but feel free to be creative and be adventurous. I may offer some advice here and there but, as they say, “experience is the best teacher”. So, read on and find out more about my first-time travel adventures.

Hey! Nice blog, I like it. I was hoping to go on a trip this summer, but money situation is a bit tight. Luckily I live near Lake Constance, so I could just go cycling round there and pretend it’s a holiday! 🙂

I am going to Australia next year sometime and I am really worried about money and savings while I am there. What would be your main tips?

You can search the net for affordable hotels and eateries within your budget. Visit tourist spots that may not require you entrance fees. Take the public transport like trains or subways instead of a cab. You can do the tour by yourself or if you have a friend living there rather than getting a package tour. Hope these help.

Nice idea! The first time to Ireland, we purchased way too many books from Borders, but had the most fun planning out our trip ourselves. It was such an adventure! The 2nd time was still so much fun in the planning stages even tho we used the internet a lot more.

Whenever I visit blog sites, I have no idea what articles where written previously and I find difficulty browsing each article. So, I thought better to have a Table of Contents page so it will be easy to go from one article to another.

I completely agree with the fact that locals can give you added flavor to your journeys and help you find hidden treasures within the locales. However, I also think that you shouldn’t skip the tourist-y things just because they are main attractions. If you go to New York City and don’t go to the Top of the Rock or at least look at the Statue of Liberty, you might regret missing these popular attractions. At the very least, when one appears on TV or in a movie, you can say you’ve been there. Perhaps split up your travel schedule to include both tourist attractions and your own self-guided tour. I’ve found many websites that can help you find locals to guide you, too; one of which is linked to this comment, but many of which you can find through google or other search engines. I’d be careful who you trust, though, and what kind of impression you make, but all in all, locals are a great opportunity to get to know places!
