First-time in Kainan sa Dalampasigan

It was dark when we arrived in Nasugbu, Batangas. There were no traffic at the expressway or at the tourist destination Tagaytay, where we passed by. Famished after the long drive, we went directly to look for a place to eat. Good thing one of our companions remembered Kainan sa Dalampasigan, which literally means “eatery by the beach”.

We asked for directions how to get there and we never encountered any difficulty finding Kainan sa Dalampasigan. There were also some signage by the highway which made it easier for us. The restaurant was also located near Batangas State University.

A block away from the restaurant, we already caught sight of their lighted signage by their roof. Two buses were parked outside a gate. As our van entered, we went through small hanging vines that served like a curtain along the driveway.

We had to climb a few steps to the terrace that led to the main door of Kainan sa Dalampasigan. At the center of the restaurant facing the door was a small man-made falls with plenty of ferns, vines, orchids, and other plants. It was like a garden or mini-forest inside. The ceiling was well-lighted and draped. Magazine articles that already featured the restaurant were exhibited near the garden area.

The restaurant was abuzz with people. Long tables were found at the middle with some round tables near the entryway. Wide windows were wide open to let in fresh air. A the other side of the restaurant, a television was set up where some customers were enjoying a videoke session.

We were asked if we had any reservation. We never had any but we knew some friends who were regular clientele. We were accommodated and were led to a round table. We ordered sour soup with shrimps, tanigue fish steak, vegetables, and buttered shrimps. Some of the dishes were exemplary but the soup was a bit lacking in seasoning. Most of the food were served good for two to three people only. The food were priced reasonably.

We ended the night with our stomach sated of the restaurant’s food offering and our eyes rejuvenated with refreshing greens. It was a great dinner at Kainan sa Dalampasigan.
