As we were doing a budget travel, we took a long trip from Lampung in Sumatra Island, taking a 10-hour bus ride that was boarded on a ship that crossed the Sunda Strait and went further towards Jakarta, then riding an 8-hour train to Yogyakarta. We arrived in the city in the afternoon and ordered a GoCar via the GoJek app to take us to our home for four days: Pesona Jogja Homestay. My Indonesian blogger friend Indra Pradya found us this accommodation for us for free.
But that 4 days included our trip coming to Jogja, as we usually call Yogyakarta, and the day we were travelling back to Jakarta. In effect, it was just two full days for us to really explore the city and its attractions. And after two weeks of traveling continuously, we also felt we needed to slow down a bit.
Good thing Pesona Jogja Homestay provided us with a safe haven where we were able to recharge and really get the rest we needed. For those who are on the lookout for cheap hotels or affordable accommodations where they can stay in Yogyakarta, this is the place to be. Pesona Jogja Homestay is like a townhouse that has six units, five for rent and the last one is used as their office. The names of the units are named Malioboro, Borobudur, Prambanan, Kota Gede, and Kaliurang.
Each unit has two floors and 3 to 4 rooms. You can just rent a room, or if you’re a group, you can get the entire unit. There are also parking slots per unit, outdoor chairs and tables and a terrace at the upper floor. It is within a residential area, so it’s quiet. There are rice paddies at the back of the compound, which, if viewed from our terrace, was a tranquil sight.
Our unit was Malioboro, right at the end of the compound and just across the office. A living room, a dining room, a kitchen and a bedroom are found in the lower floor of our unit. At the upper floor are two rooms, one bedroom, an open area for drying of clothes, and a terrace. I stayed at the ground floor and my room had a queen-size bed, a private bathroom and toilet, a television set and air-conditioned unit. It also has huge glass windows that open to the parking area.
A stay at Pesona Jogja Homestay includes free breakfast that the staff will cook and prepare for you. The staff are friendly as they helped arranged for our car rental to Borobudur and Prambanan. They can also assist in getting a cab to pick you up from the homestay but since we have a GoJek app, we opted to use it instead in getting a car and in ordering food for delivery.
We truly had a wonderful stay at Pesona Jogja Homestay. With all its amenities, it’s a good bargain to stay in this place. It was our pleasant home for a few days in Yogyakarta. How I wish we could have stayed longer, but our limited time wouldn’t allow us to do that. Maybe someday I can go back and stay here again.
