First-time in Resorts Negrense

Bacolod City is experiencing a new development that will help boost its tourism industry with the inauguration of a new attraction in town — the Resorts Negrense in Punta Taytay, Bacolod City in Negros Occidental, Philippines.

I was fortunate enough to be invited to the blessing of Resorts Negrense a day before it had its soft opening. Sprawled in a 14-hectare property just by the beach side in Punta Taytay, Bacolod is Resorts Negrense which now offers a swimming pool where guests can have a dip, a playground for kids to play and a restaurant where visitors can dine and have their fill.

Resorts Negrense is a new attraction in the metro.

A mere 45 minutes from the Bacolod-Silay Airport and 40 from the BREDCO port, Resorts Negrense is very accessible from the city center. It is a jeepney ride away from the downtown area. For those bringing private cars, there are parking lots available at the resort. It is so easy to locate because from the highway, you just have to turn right at the gasoline station in Punta Taytay, drive straight and the resort’s entrance and signage is found at the end of the street before the curb.

If you are wondering why Resorts Negrense is still in its soft opening, it is because a hotel is on the rise and will hopefully open by the year 2018. It will have 45 hotel rooms that can accommodate travelers, events attendees and other guests who want to spend a night or two in the property. Add to this the upcoming 4-hectare Negrense Lagoon that will host lots of water-based sports and activities.

Meantime, guests can do a day trip in Resorts Negrense as overnight stay is not yet available. It is open from 7:00am to 10:00pm. Here are the things you can do at Resorts Negrense.

Things to do in Resorts Negrense:

Cool Off at the Pool

The huge swimming pool that is somehow divided by a tower with some water slides is an enticing view in the resort. There’s also a longer slide at one end with water flowing from a giant masskara, an icon of Bacolod City for its Masskara Festival. Dolphin and turtle statues also dot the poolside.

Have a Picnic

Take a pick from the umbrella huts or nipa huts for your picnic venues. There are casitas and poolside lanai where you can enjoy your meals in open air and just near the pool with a view of the sea. There is a barbecue pit for grilling.

There is also an outdoor garden venue for special occasions and an open-air roof deck for parties and other activities.

Play with Kids

A kiddie playground where children can play around is available inside the resort. Statues of animals and superheroes are found here which are photography worthy. It has a kiddie wall climbing, sprinklers, slides, swing and see-saw that will delight your bundles of joy and tiny tots.

Dine and Have a Feast

Resorts Negrense has two restaurants: Comedor, which is the heritage restaurant that has a mix of classic Spanish-inspired menu and Negrense food; and Function Grill, which serves “sinugba” or “ihaw-ihaw” food as well as boodle packages for groups. The food are specially prepared by Mia Poblador, Resorts Negrense’s Food and Beverage Director. There are also food packages for events. The prices are decent that offers value to your money.
