Invitation to Organic Farmers Festival

I must admit, having been away from my hometown for two decades made me miss on so many events and happenings. I was curious about a post I read in one of my Facebook groups. It was about the Organic Farmers Festival that will be taking place on November 19 to 23 this year at the PNB Fountain Area near the Capitol Lagoon in Bacolod City.

It was something new to my hearing and I was more surprised to find out that this has been happening since 2006. This year’s festival is already the 9th Organic Farmers Festival. I immediately signed up as one of its social media partners as I really wanted to be part of this interesting endeavor.

Various activities are lined up, such as a fun run, a farm tour, quiz bee, talks, workshops, demonstrations, poster-making contest, and so much more. Of course, organic products and equipment will be on display at the festival venue.

But what really got my attention is the Organic Farm Tour which is divided into three areas – the northern loop, the central loop, and the southern loop.

Based on last year’s statistics, the 8th Organic Farmers Festival was able to achieve a revenue of almost P2.5 M, a 22% increase from the sales of the 7th Organic Farmers Festival. This event has generated not only earnings to organic farmers but also more attention on and knowledge about organic farming. Such activities also enabled the participation of Indigenous Peoples.

This is truly a worthy cause and an interesting one. Let’s see what else I’ll be learning come November 19 onwards and I’ll gladly share them with you.
