A new eatery has opened in Bacolod City that can put smiles to the faces of those who are craving for Binondo street food. Binondo 888 is located at Unit 105, Del Rio 2, San Agustin Drive, right beside Riverside Hospital. It opened its doors on December’s new moon for a soft launch.
[UPDATE 2023: The restaurant has closed permanently and is no longer in operation.]
Dining at Binondo888 was nostalgic for me as it brought me to the time I had a fun Chinese New Year celebration in Binondo, Manila with friends.
The owners behind Binondo888, who invited us during their groundbreaking, love Chinese food. Their philosophy is to “start from scratch or build a new kitchen”. They do not like pre-cooked, pre-mixed, or pre-processed food. As such, everything is always made fresh and from scratch. In fact, they do not have a freezer in their cooking area. That’s their secret. Plus, they do not add any preservative, artificial flavor, or MSG in their food as they serve with 100% natural ingredients, sourcing their raw goods from farmers themselves.
Every serving sells at P50.00 (about US$1.00) only. It is so affordable that everyone can enjoy their Chinese offerings. Their limited menu for their soft launch includes the following:
1.) Siomai
2.) Hakaw
3.) Cabbage Roll
4.) Taro Puff
5.) Canton Balls
6.) Rice Roll with Duck
7.) Chow Fun (Fried Rice)
8.) Stuffed Eggplant
9.) Duck Flan
10.) Xiao Long Bao – limited
Drinks: Iced Red Tea and Hot Oolong Tea
Since they are still on a soft launch, they are not yet open 24/7 but diners can come from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. The area is very accessible, and the interior is spacious. It’s an ideal place for family gatherings or dining out with friends. Now, I don’t need to fly to Manila just to satisfy my Binondo cravings because I can now enjoy such in the City of Smiles, thanks to Binondo888.
