“One way to get the most out of life is to look upon it as an adventure.” -William Feather
We always associate adventure with extreme sports, going on a quest, or exploring a place we’re visiting for the first time. Merriam Webster defines the word as:
: an exciting or dangerous experience
: danger or excitement
1a : an undertaking usually involving danger and unknown risks b : the encountering of risks 2: an exciting or remarkable experience
3: an enterprise involving financial risk
But for me, as I have been through life with its ups and downs, I regard adventure as something that keeps me out of my comfort zone. When I face a challenge, a problem, a setback, or something that seems to go wrong, I treat it as an adventure.
It may be as simple as getting lost, like in high school when we had our free day during our educational trip in Cebu, and we took the wrong jeepney. It was scary but it was fun. I usually learn a place or route by getting lost. Or, when I was heading to a remote town to attend a family affair and the bus we took got bogged down in the middle of nowhere. My cousin and I hailed a truck and hitchhiked, standing at the back while the sun was high. That, to me, was an adventure.
When life gives me lemons, making a lemonade is an adventure. There are times when plans I presented at work were not approved. Going back to the drawing board and redoing everything was an adventure. Or, when I applied for a job in an industry I was not too familiar with, that was an adventure to me.
After two decades of living in the capital, I had a spiritual calling of going back to my province. So I packed my bags, sold my other stuffs, and went on a road trip from Makati to Bacolod as my uncle and I took turns in driving my car back to our hometown. The trip was an adventure, which allowed me to cross through four islands and six ports, but the bigger adventure was deciding to return to the family nest and starting life anew in the city I was born.
We can often refocus our lens and look at things, such as adventure, in a different way. Just like Huawei P9, it can change the way you see mobile photography because its camera is co-engineered with Leica. Meaning, its dual lenses produce high quality photos and enable users to take great monochrome, slo-mo, colored, and light painting photos, among others. This is Huawei’s #OO story wherein it combines monochrome features with the RGB to create outstanding and vivid images.
Recently, I had an adventure in the mall. I was invited to a particular event and the whole venue was packed, I couldn’t squeeze in. It was the roadshow of Huwaei ambassadress and Teen Queen, Kathryn Bernardo. I almost gave up getting inside the cordoned area but I kept on, until I was able to get to the organizers and I was let in. The whole venue had fun and everyone stood anticipating for her arrival. When she appeared on stage, the crowd went wild. I saw this nine-year old girl fan in front of me who strained to have a look at her idol. She stood on her chair, somehow blocking my view. But I didn’t mind. The giggles, shrieks and smiles she had were enough to let me enjoy the whole moment.
“We are delighted to bring this series of promotions to our avid fans in Bacolod. The Negrenses love for our brand remains strong and it is only fitting for us to choose this city for our roadshow,” Huawei Philippines Country Manager Charles Wu shared. “This is our simple way of thanking Filipinos for the support they have been giving Huawei for the past couple of years.”
And I’m sure that those couple of years was a wonderful adventure for Huawei. We look forward to more adventures with this state-of-the-art smartphone.
