“Can you take us to that restaurant with a good overlooking view?” one of my colleagues asked my officemate who grew up in Baguio City. And with a snap of a finger, Forest House came to mind.
After some take-home shopping at Mines View Park and the Good Shepherd and road trip around Baguio’s winding roads, we took the path to Forest House.
We stopped by a curb where the façade of the bistro visibly stood. Its receiving area is very welcoming, with miniature falls and some greens. Then it leads to a living room-type with sofas facing each other at a fireplace. Wood and bricks emit a cabin-like ambiance and the aroma of freshly baked bread and the scent of pine complete the over-all Forest House homey feel.
I passed by its refrigerator filled with delectable cakes that whetted my appetite. We chose to sit on the terrace where the scenic side of Baguio revealed itself to us. Mountain ridges, treetops and house roofs blend together like a beautiful painting.
While the view was enjoyable, the food was even more pleasurable. The garlic soup prepared our palate and its warmth created a balance with the cool breeze. We opted for a menu of grilled food – fish, pork, squid, and some steamed vegetables.
But, of course, the highlight was the dessert. We dug our forks into the mouth-watering Blueberry Cheesecake, Chocolate Mousse, and the banana flambé arranged in fried wanton sheets topped with Ice Cream called Goreng Pisang.
Ahh, it was pure delight! The food, the restaurant, the view, and the dining experience.
Wow! the place was so beautiful. We enjoyed eating delicious food and the scent of pine trees was so fresh.
