First-time in Richmonde Hotel Iloilo

It’s been quite some time when I last roamed Iloilo City, which is in Panay Island, Philippines. Iloilo has an international airport that serves local flights to Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Clark, Davao, General Santos, Manila and Puerto Princesa and international flights to Hong Kong and Singapore.

But for us from Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, it’s a 1.5-hour ferry ride from our island to Iloilo port. At the newly built Simplico A. Palanca Seaport Terminal in Bacolod’s reclamation area, travelers can cross the sea to Iloilo via Weesam Express, Oceanjet or 2Go Supercat.

Arriving in Iloilo, we went directly to Megaworld’s Richmonde Hotel Iloilo at the Iloilo Business Park in Mandurriao. The hotel is strategically located between Festive Walk Mall and the Iloilo Convention Center. Yes, that’s right. It is found at the heart of the budding economic district and cultural hub of Western Visayas.

The hotel lobby is located at the Upper Ground where the Reception, Concierge, Business Center, The Granary and BizBar are located. Checking-in was a breeze and the staff are helpful and hospitable.

Our Deluxe Twin Room has complete amenities — telephone units, Wi-Fi internet access, flat screen LED TV, mini refrigerator, iron board, in-room safe, writing desk and chair and universal outlets. It has a centralized air-conditioning with individual temperature control, hot and cold shower and complete toiletries. They also provide baby cribs upon request.

We checked the facilities at the 7th floor and there were function and banquet rooms, a fitness center, pool bar and an inviting pool where you can enjoy the city view.

The buffet breakfast at The Granary was filling. It has a fruit and salad station, soup, bread and cheese, main dishes and desserts. I also commend their team because they were really extra attentive to our needs.

It was good that we were able to stay for two days and one night at Richmonde Hotel Iloilo. We used to visit this city for a day trip only and this time, we were able to enjoy more of the city at night, especially that the Festive Walk Mall and nearby areas come alive and colorful in the evening.

Now that I have found a great place to stay in Iloilo, I’ll definitely come back again soon so I can fully explore other areas in Iloilo that I haven’t yet visited and enjoy their offerings that are not yet available in Bacolod.
