First-time in Savoy Hotel Mactan Newtown |

It was night time when we touched down at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport and made our way to Savoy Hotel Mactan Newtown. My sister and I were excited for this trip as we flew for the first time after the pandemic. We travelled to Mactan, Cebu so as not to miss the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of watching my K-pop idol, Xiumin of EXO, perform live as a soloist, and joined by his label mates, EXO Chen, TVXQ and BoA. The moment the event was confirmed and even though tickets were not yet being sold at that time, I immediately booked our flights and hotel in Cebu, come what may.

Upon hearing that the concert would be held at the Mactan Newtown Open Grounds, the first thing that came to mind was Savoy Hotel Mactan Newtown. I wasn’t even sure which part of the township the concert venue would be located or how far it would be from the hotel, but I went with my gut and trusted Savoy Hotel to give us satisfactory accommodations. Right then and there, I searched for it at the online booking sites and reserved our room for a three-night stay.

Our room was situated at the very end of the floor so we had a good view of the beach and the surrounding places. It was also an ideal pick because my sister and I had to work the day after the concert and we had online meetings to attend, so I asked the hotel prior to arriving if we could have a room where Wi-fi signal is strong and stable. The night we arrived at the hotel, a gigantic poster of the concert was displayed at the driveway. We even got more excited seeing it. A huge Christmas tree stood at the lobby, which made the ambiance felt so homey.

As it was time for dinner, we strolled around Mactan Newtown to check the restaurants in the area. There were already a number of restos that are open within the township and more are still going to open in the near future.

We’re glad we stayed at Savoy Hotel because not only did we have good night sleeps but we were also able to work as well as enjoy the sights near the area. Moreover, it rained the entire time the concert happened so it was very convenient for us to just walk a few steps to the hotel right after the event.

On the day we checked out, I was surprised that they gave me a cute Savoy Hotel stuffed toy. I looked at the hotel lobby that was busy with guests that were also concert goers a few days back.
