For quite sometime now, I have been looking towards the east, from the Philippine perspective, hoping I would someday explore the territories just beyond my country. After my New Zealand trip, my curiosity of such territories was piqued when I encountered people from the Pacific Islands. Guam, Palau, Micronesia, and their neighboring destinations came to mind.

These places have their own unique qualities in terms of culture, food, people, and attractions, yet they have certain features that are close to home. The mixture of the unknown and the familiar was an exciting prospect for me. The Northern Mariana Islands where Saipan, Tinian, and Rota seem to be a fitting destination for me to satisfy my sense of wonder and Make my Wanders Happen.

Good thing I chanced upon this opportunity to Get Wonderfully Lost in the Northern Mariana Islands that is presented by #MyMarianasPH and #Blogapalooza. It would be fun to fly again out of my hometown, which is Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, onto another place outside the country.

I looked over the web and from what I’ve gathered, Northern Mariana Islands is a great place where I can tick some of the things in my bucket list and for me to:

Wander To Experience Adventure

Cliff jumping. I’ve seen thrill-seekers jump over cliffs into a pool of water, whether at sea or at a waterfalls. I’ve never tried it myself but wanted to experience it one day. That point between jumping and hitting the water must be something that will get my adrenaline rushing. But fear often gets the better of me. Wouldn’t it be a bit of adventure if I’d do my first cliff jump in Saipan?

Wander To Do Things The First Time

Windsurfing. Maybe it’s time for me to test my balance. I’ve never tried windsurfing, let alone surfing. I’m not sure if I can make it or not. The one thing I am sure of is that I’d like to try this even just once in my lifetime.

Wander To Satisfy My Curiosity

Walk the seabed. I snorkel but I don’t dive. I have seen many underwater landscapes but I have never set foot on the seabed itself and see the marine world from a different point of view. I just want to know how the fishes would treat me if they see me walking in their midst instead of just swimming over them.

Ride the APV. Even before I learned how to drive, I have this inner desire to do something spectacular with vehicles, like maybe race or go through rough terrains. Maybe when I experience this in the Northern Mariana Islands, I would get the hang of it and look for the thrill of riding APVs.

Wander To Achieve Something

Go fishing. Wouldn’t it be a great achievement to catch a huge fish? Pictures of people fishing for sport seem to portray a relaxed life, and a well-spent one at that. Movies where father and son go on a fishing spree by a quiet lake has a huge appeal to me. I’m a sucker for TV shows that are about nature and wondered if I, too, would be able to catch my own fish someday.

And apart from checking my bucket list, I think that Northern Mariana Islands can also Make Wanders Happen when it comes to tasting food, shopping, walking by the beach, stargazing, and so much more. I do hope I’d be able to go there one of these days and enjoy this piece of paradise just beyond my country.
