The Panaad sa Negros Festival, which translates to “vow” or “promise” in Hiligaynon, is the most anticipated festival in Negros Occidental, Philippines. After a three-year break due to the pandemic, the province is ready to celebrate its spirit of jubilation and camaraderie, showcasing the unique products, attractions, history, and culture of its 32 cities and municipalities. This year’s Panaad sa Negros Festival was held from April 17 to 25, 2023, at the Panaad Park and Stadium.
The Provincial Government of Negros Occidental, spearheaded by Governor Eugenio Jose “Bong” Lacson and Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer, Provincial Board Members, Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, and Panaad Festival Director Cheryl Decena, has recently unveiled the festival’s new logo, theme, and song at the Capitol Lagoon.
With the theme, “The Promise Renewed,” the updated festival logo features The Sun, The Sugarcane, The Carabao, The Train (Iron Dinosaur), and The Capitol building.
The sun, which symbolizes hope, offers a chance to start anew and explore new possibilities. The sugarcane, being the region’s primary product, represents resilience and the ability to thrive despite adversity. The mighty carabao symbolizes strength, power, perseverance, and hard work, while the train, known as the iron dinosaur, signifies efficiency and progress. The Capitol building, which reflects the province’s prominence during the sugar industry boom, serves as a bastion that protects and ensures the welfare and well-being of every Negrense.
During the launch, the province also presented the 27 candidates for the Lin-ay Sang Negros, representing the various cities and towns in the province.
The Panaad sa Negros Festival will be another opportunity to witness the different festival presentations around Negros Occidental as towns and cities will perform their respective dances. The Panaad Park and Stadium will once again be filled with so many attractions, featuring the various pavilions of the different cities and municipalities from the northern part of the province, down towards its southern tip.
