We were at the terminal 3 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport when a lady ran after my niece and grabbed her hand. Surprised, my niece turned, who was walking in front of me. The lady asked, “Where did you buy your J.Co Donuts?” My niece was still taken aback and didn’t respond. I quipped, “We got these boxes in J.Co MOA.” (MOA or Mall of Asia is about 6-7 km from the airport or 20-30 minutes without traffic.) “Oh!” the lady answered in dismay. She thought there was a J.Co store in the airport terminal.
[UPDATE 2023: The restaurant has closed and is no longer in operation in this location.]
Since it came to the Philippines, it has become one of the favorite “pasalubong” or take-home treat of Filipinos. You must understand that it is ingrained in the Filipino culture to take a piece of something, usually food, from the place where they come from.
Now, J.Co has finally arrived in Metro Bacolod, specifically in the Ayala North District mall in Talisay City, near the border of Bacolod City.
What I love about J.Co is that its donuts are not too sweet. Since I went to their store not feeling too well, I opted for a Hot Jcoccino. Oh so heavenly! I also got a Coco Loco, Alcapone, and Berry Spears. When placed on my plate, it looked like a wink and a pout.
Not only will you enjoy their donuts and beverages, but you will also enjoy their fat-free frozen yogurt, the J.Cool; their donut sandwiches, the J.Club; and the baby donuts, or the J.PoPs.
J.Co came from Indonesia, where I lived for seven months, and now has expanded to Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines. Negrenses have something to be happy about as J.Co shares its cheers in the Negros Island. Now, there’s another place to enjoy a warm cup of coffee in Bacolod.
