From Bacolod City in Negros Occidental, Philippines, we went via Sum-ag towards Brgy. Tabunan, Bago City to visit the OISCA silk-making facility. On our way home, we had snacks at the Hilltop Resto and Bar in the town of Murcia, which was totally unplanned and a spur of the moment decision. I was then with fellow blogger, Mea Pabiona of Mea in Bacolod, and her hubby. Here’s how our Hilltop afternoon went.
From OISCA, instead of going back to Sum-ag, we went eastward and took the Murcia-Bago City Road. We didn’t get too far when we passed by The Quiet Place. I have heard of it before from fellow bloggers and tour experts but never really got around to see it. We entered the farm resort and drove through a narrow path amidst some mini rice terraces. We got to the reception area and saw a few buildings. We asked the receptionist if we could look around and told us as long as we don’t stay for 30 minutes or more, otherwise, we would pay P50 each.
We were quick, saw a pool, a gazebo, and a mud hut. We could hear the birds tweeting and the leaves rustling. Eventually, we took our leave and went onwards the length of San Juan St. until we got to the Murcia-Bago City Road.
The highway was paved with few vehicles. Mt. Kanlaon, which was slightly veiled, was discernible to our right while Mt. Mandalagan and its nearby peaks could be seen ahead of us.
When we got to the town proper of Murcia, we mentioned about Hilltop Resto and Bar which I have passed by several times en route to Mambukal Mountain Resort. We made a quick right turn and decided to try their food.
Hilltop Resto and Bar looked like a log cabin from the highway. It was a small structure and a charming sight. There were only a few tables inside the restaurant, but no customer was in sight because all of them preferred to dine al fresco and at the open area bar at the back where they could enjoy the view of the mountains. Bamboo fences with light bulbs inside the bamboo wood were placed around the property.
The restaurant offered sandwiches, burgers, Filipino dishes, hot and cold beverages, and wine. I ordered a cheese burger and I was pretty satisfied with the char-grilled juicy burger. It’s not your usual fast food-type burger but one that seemed to be prepared in your own backyard. The cost was also decent and not too expensive.
I looked around and saw a picture of a sky lantern. The one at the next table, who seemed to be the manager, told us that anyone can fly the sky lantern at any day, or night, for that matter. I would like to do that one of these days.
The restaurant also has Wi-fi access. Diners can come here from 4pm to 11pm during weekdays and at 10am to 11pm on weekends, wherein they can enjoy lunch as well.
The sun at the horizon but it was not yet ready to set. We left Hilltop and didn’t wait for the sunset anymore. There’s another time for that. Maybe then, I could fly my sky lantern and light up the dark night.

i would love to dine at the alfreso area with mountain view! that photo looks just like a scenic postcard! but i wonder why the burger buns look flatten?
It was a scenic place indeed. The burger buns had been made in a panini maker, I think.
Wow! Restobar at Hilltop – the concept itself looks a winner. Well-equipped with faculties and yummy food..looks good!
I never tried the homemade ice cream but a friend told me I should try that one. It gives me a reason to go back there.
I have plans to visit Bacolod. Maybe around april or may. And thaks to your blog i have ideas what to do and where to go
Thanks so much! I’m glad I am able to help. 🙂
The view is beautiful, I guess it is worth the trip up just to see the beautiful scenery. As for the food, I’m not a fan of burgers, so just a drink will be good enough
The view itself is nice. Yes, it was worth the trip.
I am not sure if I will ever go to this place in the future, but that Quiet Place really looks very good. I have been to Bacolod before, and I think it is not impossible to return there for another visit.
It’s really a quiet place, good for retreats.
Whoa! This looks like an absolutely fabulous place!!!
The greenery, the forest, the garden, the wooden structures, the pool everything is fabulous!
It’s far from the city and it’s a great way to commune with nature.
Looks pretty neat, looks like i must come here!
Oh, you should!
What a great way to spend quality time with family! This is a place where you can just forget about the city for a while and just have a good time.
That is so true.
Wow it looks so beautiful here. It reminds me of the Caribbean where I would spend the holidays. Would love to visit here.
It’s a great place to just relax and enjoy the view.
Such a great place with good foods.Woulld love to have some great time there with family.
Families and friends frequent there. Children and adults alike love the place.
This was lovely. I liked the wood lamp outdoors! Such a elegant thing!
It was the first time I saw such kind as well. I like it, too.
Beautiful place especially that mud hut and road towards mountain range. It feels as if you are heading to nature.
It was really more of a nature trip.
They do give you the country side with the rich nature view. It would be an excellent place for a vacation.
There have been marathons organized that go to the upland portions of Murcia. It would be a fun run and trek in this setting.
Eating great food with that kind of view is just amazing! I also love the creative fences with bulbs on it. 🙂
I wanted to bring home the fence as well. Hahaha!
This is such a peaceful and nature place to dine and relax. I love the lush surrounding and the greenery there.
I hope to go back there again. I like the place a lot, too.
