There’s something magical about the smell of books, the rustling of pages, and the promise of new adventures with every turn. And this year, that magic has come alive once again at the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale happening at SM City Bacolod from September 20 to September 29. Growing up, I was fortunate to have been surrounded by stacks of books even before I entered formal schooling. In our family, the love for reading was ingrained in us. It wasn’t just about flipping through pages; it was about the worlds we discovered, the lessons we learned, and the endless possibilities that awaited us. Last year, I ventured into the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale on my own, eager to dive into its literary treasure trove. This year, I was delighted to be invited officially to experience it once more. It feels incredible to see that the Big Bad Wolf has returned to Bacolod with even greater enthusiasm, and I couldn’t wait to explore what the Wolf had in store this time around.
The Big Bad Wolf Returns: An Event Not to Miss
The sale offers not just great books but amazing deals, including a 3-month 0% installment promo for Metrobank credit cardholders on purchases worth at least P3,000, and a complimentary Chicken McDo meal. Returning Wolfies who bring their old Big Bad Wolf tote bag from last year get an additional 5% discount! Plus, there’s a chance to win over P50,000 worth of furnishings from IKEA – a true treat for every book and home lover.
Head of Big Bad Wolf, Terrence Leong, expressed his excitement at the Big Bad Wolf Bacolod Book Sale VIP Day, saying, “It has always been our heart’s desire to see people develop their love for reading. It’s our second time here in Bacolod, and I’m glad to see that the Book Sale is serving as an avenue for this.” He added with optimism, “Our goal of reaching 1M new readers by the end of the year now seems closer.”
Joining Leong in officially opening the Big Bad Wolf Bacolod Book Sale was Project Director Ley Almeda. The event was also graced by 2GO Forwarding Business Development Manager and Sector Head Glory Perez, 2GO Forwarding Bacolod Operations Head Rafael Belarde, and SM Mall Manager Julia Javellana, all supporting Big Bad Wolf’s mission to reach 1M new readers. Sharing the Love of Reading – A Mission to Cultivate Readers
One of the sale’s special features is the opportunity to give back. There’s a donation box where you can buy and donate a book to less-privileged children who have limited access to reading materials. This year, I donated the “Subtraction Grade 1 Skill-Building Activity Book” by Tammy Hayes. The Big Bad Wolf crew made the experience memorable by ringing a bell and clapping when I dropped my donation, a heartwarming gesture that added joy to my contribution.
Big Bad Wolf isn’t just about selling books; it’s about cultivating a love for reading, making books accessible, and nurturing curiosity in children and adults alike. With genres ranging from adventure to mystery, self-help to biographies, there’s something to satisfy every reader’s craving.

Special note from me:
In my journey as a writer, I’ve had the privilege to co-author an e-book that’s close to my heart: “THE BEST TYPE 2 DIABETES KILLER: How to Control Blood Sugar Without Drugs” by Claire Marie Algarme and Tanya Caylor. Inspired by the remarkable story of Bonaparte C. Damocles, who was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 1991 and determined to take charge of his health without relying on medication, this book unveils his unique philosophy and lifestyle adjustments. Now at 88 years young, Damocles stands as a testament to perseverance, living happily and healthily, free from the many complications that often accompany this disease. With his simple yet effective regimen, he’s proven that anyone can manage their health with the right mindset and dedication. Join us in sharing this life-changing wisdom with your loved ones.
