First-time in Costa Pacifica

By Claire Algarme | December 23, 2013 | Category Asia, Luzon, Philippines

It was a misty morning when we arrived at Costa Pacifica in Baler, Aurora with a slight drizzle that threatened us to a day full of rain. The hot, citrus-flavored tea as our welcome drink was perfect to ward off the cold and the tiring seven-hour drive (on normal times, Baler could be reached within five hours from Manila). It was so delicious that I couldn’t help but ask for a second serving.

We were here for a business trip, but work seemed an enjoyable thing when one is staying in Costa Pacifica. Good thing that the sun finally shone at 9:00 am, giving us a great time to walk to the beach and inspect the resort’s facilities.

With the helpful and friendly staff assisting us, we immediately checked into our rooms, which had a welcome treat and complimentary bottled water. Using pastel colors and with some flower paintings on the wall, the room ambiance was very cool and relaxing. The beds were comfortable, especially the pillows and beddings. The spacious closet had a safe where we could store our valuables and well-lit.

A flat screen is installed by the desk, which could also double as a workspace. I especially love the green side tables which had trays on top. The room, though air-conditioned, has a ceiling fan that gives the guests an option to open the terrace doors and enjoy the fresh air from outdoors. The bathroom is also neat, complete with a rain shower. Toiletries are also provided for the guests.

The restaurant, called the Beach House, opens into the pool, giving guests easy access for al fresco dining. There were also fish chairs gathered around a bonfire set-up.

It gives way to a small elevated boulevard that has a great view of the beach. Sabang Beach, as it is called, is a favorite among surfers because of its gigantic waves.

Costa Pacifica provides surfing lessons for those who want to try their balance riding the waves. It also has expert guides for trekking to the falls and other attractions within and around Baler.

The rooms range from Php 3,000++ (app. USD 71.50) – the Casa Standard – to Php 9,000 ++ (app. USD 214) – the Pacifica one-bedroom suite. In between, you can choose among the Casita De luxe, the Casa Loft, the Junior Suite, the Junior Premiere, the Pacifica Suite, and the Pacifica Premiere.

Costa Pacifica, with its neat rooms, various facilities like the conference room, meeting room and gym, affordable rooms, and great service, I hope to come back here and enjoy a vacation with friends.
