Indeed, it was a fitting last trip of the year, a pilgrimage of sorts, praying for a better and more fruitful 2024 ahead.

Our journey to this haven of serenity started at the Festive Walk Transport Hub. There we hopped onto an air-conditioned mini-bus bound for the Mohon Bus Terminal (Php 26.00 each). From there, another mini-bus journey (Php 91.00 each) led us to San Joaquin, Iloilo. Pro tip: inform the bus conductor of your destination to ensure a convenient stop near Garin Farm.
The scenic Southern Iloilo route unfurls over approximately an hour of land travel. We passed by old churches, town plazas and breathtaking view of the coast of Iloilo province. If one would go farther, the highway would lead to the province of Antique. As soon as you enter San Joaquin town and spot the old cemetery along the highway, that’s your clue that the stop for Garin Farm is just nearby. From there, hail a tricycle (Php 15.00 each) that will take you to the gate of Garin Farm.
Truly, Garin Farm welcomes all with open arms, accompanied by a modest entrance fee of Php 150.00 per person. For those preferring a breezier ascent, golf carts are available for Php 60.00 to the pavilion and Php 90.00 to the cross.

Upon entering the premises, we found ourselves immersed in a tunnel-like walk adorned with trellised vegetables. In fact, the air was filled with the comforting aroma of farm life. Also, it was accompanied by the gentle sounds of animals around the property.
The heart of Garin Farm beats at its pavilion, where a rustic restaurant welcomes weary travelers. Incidentally, a small canteen and souvenir shop sit charmingly at the façade of the restaurant. For lunch, we indulged in local flavors, savoring Pinalabtong na Manok, Pork Barbeque, and Fried Bangus — a feast that reflected the region’s rich culinary heritage.
Ascending to Serenity
The highlight of a pilgrim’s visit is the ascent up the Pilgrimage Hill, a journey of 480 steps leading to the celestial peak. As one climbs towards the cross, the breathtaking panorama unfolds, and the sense of spiritual tranquility grows with each step. Reaching the summit, the Stairway to Heaven beckons, offering a picturesque view that transcends the ordinary.
Leisure and Comfort Amidst Nature
