Hollywood Laser: Skin Treatment Apt for Travelers

When you travel you are out most of the day, exposing your skin to the sun, pollution and harsh conditions. It may result in skin pigmentation, skin damage or skin diseases, which may get worse without precautions or treatment. My recent visit to Skin Solutions Dermatology and Laser Center by Serondo Skin and Surgical Clinic helped me enlighten how I should care for my skin.

Going to the beach exposes my skin directly to the sun.

Thanks to Dr Rhea Serondo, I learned that I should apply sunscreen even when I stay indoors, much more when I go out. Seeing my freckles and sun spots, she was able to tell that I lack some skin regimen that has caused these damages on my face. As I keep getting older, age spots also start to show. Treatment is necessary not for vanity but for health reasons as further damage to the skin may lead to skin diseases. Good thing I listened to Dr Serondo who offered me to try for free their Hollywood LASER or Nd: YAG LASER which stands for Neodymium-doped Yttrium Aluminium Garnet Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation.

What happens through this treatment is that the atoms in an Nd: YAG crystal are excited by a flashlamp, and the Nd: YAG crystal produces amplified light that travels at a specific wavelength — 1064 nm. This wavelength is outside of the visible spectrum, so the light is invisible and within the infrared range. This wavelength of light has many practical applications.

Nd: YAG lasers are used for medical, scientific, dental, military, manufacturing and automotive purposes. There are different types of Nd: YAG lasers and they depend on other factors of the laser system, such as the amount of power delivered to the flashlamp and the pulse width of the laser output. Dr Serondo explained this to me and the good thing about this treatment is that there is no downtime. It only took about an hour, it was safe (I found it bearable as well), and effective as I saw immediate results.

See the dark spots on my face? They’re the effects of various factors that damage my skin.
The treatment is fast, safe, and effective with no downtime.

Here’s how it is done. A layer of liquid carbon is applied to the skin, where it penetrates deep into the pores. Laser light is highly attracted to the carbon particles. When the laser is passed over the area, it destroys the carbon, taking dead skin cells, contaminants and oil with it. A carbon peel is a revolutionary laser treatment that is completely painless with minimal-to-zero downtime. It is highly beneficial for people with oily skin, blackheads, enlarged pores, dull skin, and acne on the face. It is also an excellent way to exfoliate and refresh the skin, providing an instant refreshed appearance and leaving the skin feeling softer, smoother and firmer.

The positive effects of this treatment will last about 2-3 weeks and can be done monthly. It was a different experience for me and I’m happy with the results. My dark spots were minimized and the blackheads on the tip of my nose were gone. With this treatment and starting a skin regimen, such as applying sunscreen every day, I’ll be able to battle the adverse effects of factors that damage my face. Now, I’m more confident to go out and explore, and I’m up for another travel adventure. Watch out for my succeeding travel stories!

I am more confident to go out, travel and explore because there’s a treatment that can care for my skin.
