Ramen-joying Izumi Authentic Ramen

I left Manila almost three years back with ramen houses emerging left and right within and around the metropolis. Not the same can be said of my hometown, Bacolod City. There are only a few ramen houses around the city. Thus, having Izumi Authentic Ramen within our midst is a welcome thing as there is another eatery that serves Japanese cuisine in Bacolod.

Located in Nolan Bldg., which is beside Dr. Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital (or more known as Riverside Hospital), Izumi Authentic Ramen has a cozy space that makes dining with family and friends more engaging. It reminded me of ramen houses in Japan that I have seen online. They are small spaces but perfect to get intimate with your food.

An ideal space to dine with family and friends. There’s a room upstairs that can be used for meetings.

We were served with plain Japanese rice and the Chahan or the Japanese fried rice. For the ramen, the Tonkotsu Ramen, which is pork soup bone base, was the runaway winner to me. We also tried the Miso Ramen, with a miso soup base, and the Jigoku Ramen, or the spicy soup base with a level of 1 to 3, in terms of spiciness.

For the main dish, we had Yakisoba whole, Shrimp Tempura, Shogayaki (pork with ginger sauce), Karaage (deep fried chicken), and Pork Teriyaki Don. We also had Gyoza dumplings, my favorite, and maki.

The good thing about Izumi Authentic Ramen is that they have value meals, which are ideal for students. At only P110 (or around USD 2.25), you can enjoy the Chicken Karaage or Tonkatsu value meal, with rice and iced tea.

Izumi Authentic Ramen is a local restaurant in Bacolod wherein the owner and her family are Japanese gustatory enthusiasts. Because of their love of the Japanese cuisine, they decided to open a food joint that serves this.

The food can definitely put a smile on your face. I made a smiley face out of century eggs (which are placed in the ramen) and a gyoza.

And from the taste of their dishes, you can savor their love for Japanese food as it radiates into the flavor of their dishes. For someone who yearns to set foot in the Land of the Rising Sun, Izumi Authentic Ramen is a good place for me to prepare my tummy for an eventual trip to Japan.
