It was only years ago when I purchased my car, a tiny hatchback that was good for city driving and appropriate for a lady like me. But that car carried half of my belongings across islands as I drove it via RORO from Manila, the capital of the Philippines, to Bacolod City in the island of Negros.
It was fun being on the road and how I wish that I would have a vehicle that would take me around the country. Yes, even with the cheapest flights and sea voyages, a road trip is a more thrilling option. I seem to have found several automobiles at the 1st Bacolod Autoshow at SMX Convention Center Bacolod that would be appropriate for road travel.
Below are some of the vehicles that were featured in the auto show:
The 1st Bacolod Autoshow which was presented by SMX Convention Center Bacolod and Ironman 4×4, with Top Gear as a major media partner, and organized by ThinkerbelleEvents. Participants of the autoshow are Auto Elite, BW Auto Parts, Circumferential Auto Sports, Citibank, Dan’s Bike Shop, Foton Bacolod, GS Battery, Ironman 4×4 Philippines, Motolite, MetroBank Card, New Energy Marketing, Panasonic Car Battery, Pinoy Diecast Collectors, Polygloss Project Y, Quarterwave Audio Focal, Western Electronics, RM Southern Trading, Safesat Philippines, Samber Marketing, Toby’s Autoworks, Vallacar Transit, Team Centerline, Jose Que Auto Shop, Speed Zone, Dobinsons Philippines, and California Eco Bike.
Wow! I didn’t know that there’s an SMX in Bacolod. 🙂 I’m also looking forward to attending the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) this coming April!
I think they mentioned that event during the program.
I love to watch car show. Actually I love cars, but cars doesn’t like me…hahahaha…in short I don’t know how to drive. Hahahaha…I don’t have that guts.
Hahaha! You’ll get over the fear. 🙂
Great post Claire! One car that I just love using for road trips is a Toyota Prius. It’s the cheapest to use in terms of gas usage. It’s 55mi/gallon. I’m not sure if it’s in the Philippines already but that’s the car I got. When I drove to Las Vegas (400+miles), I only spend $21 on gas round trip! lol Can’t beat that. 🙂 Thanks for sharing.
Hi PJ! Wow, that’s economical! I’ve heard of Toyota Prius but I’m not sure if it’s available here in the Philippines.
I love off road vehicles more than sedans. It’s funny that I don’t go on road trips so much but I prefer vehicles who can do the dirty work if needed. It’s good to have a lot of choices.
Off road vehicles seem to be more flexible and functional, I think. I seldom go on road trips but I’d love a vehicle that can also brave the rough elements of the environment.
COOL. The vehicle is so nice! But too bad I don’t drive! But I could totally see how this vehicle is great for long trips!
I’d probably want to park the vehicle somewhere and camp out. 🙂
The buggy with the big pink bear is sooo cute! I’d love to ride in one of those. I prefer the car with the tent for my road trips though. Sooo useful!
We have the same choices! 🙂
They sure had some super cool cars at the auto show. I haven’t been to one in a very long time. My last was actually in NY a few years ago.
It’s the first auto show in our city. I hope to go to a bigger one.
As much as I would like to have that car called the Big Bird, I would be afraid to drive it in the city and attract thieves. These days, safety is a key concern, than showing off.
Better to drive it in the outskirts. I probably won’t wash off the mud if I’d drive it in far-flung areas.
I always wanted to try out a buggy. It looks so fun riding it. An Terrain Vehicle would also be cool for the adventures.
It would be appropriate for your adventures!
This activities looks fun & exciting also. Are going for the road trip too.
Enjoy your road trip! It would be fun, especially if you’re with family or friends.
The Autoshow looks awesome! Some of the cars are too cool. Feel like driving them right away.
That was how I felt while looking at the cars.
I am a big fan of SUVs and sturdy land rovers. They look impeccable…
They’re good for city driving and even when you rough it up.
My attitude towards traveling by land is the same with my attitude towards traveling by air. If it’s too cramped, you better give me the best seat! I hate traveling in small, cramped spaces! We have a really small car right now and it’s a struggle to keep leg space when you’re packing for a family of 4 (2 kids!). I’ve always dreamed of owning a really nice SUV. Someday!
My car is small, too, but somehow has bigger head room. I also hope to own an SUV someday. 🙂
This looks so cool. I love the buggy with the bear on it. I’ve been to a few car shows and loved them!!
The buggy was the only car in the auto show that I tried sitting on. It was cool! 🙂
