Seldom does a food court stall captures my fancy. I’d often resort to eating in food courts when I am pressed for time, low on budget, or spending meal time with a big number of group. Unless there is a particular stall that serves food with superb taste then I’d probably frequent the food court more often. And every time I eat in this type of place, I would usually go for the familiar.
When we were invited to dine at Ribshack in SM City Bacolod, I asked my fellow Negros Blogger where the main store of Ribshack is. She told me that this is the first store to open, so I was trying to wrack my brain where I have heard the brand name before. As soon as Yani Alagao, one of the owners of the family-owned dining place, came to our table and gave a rundown of their history, my memory chip suddenly came into play.
Yes, Ribshack is the stall in the new 888 Mall in Bacolod which truly have made an impression on me when it comes to the food’s taste. The first time I ate there, I though I have hit a culinary gold mine. I even brought my sister to eat with me there just to let her have a taste of the delectable Sparerib and Backribs that I have stumbled upon.
Now, Ribshack has expanded and has opened a store in SM City Bacolod. The ambiance itself is homey and relaxing – a mix of industrial and garden setting where wooden planks, corrugated sheets, and crates make up the walls. The crates carry plants, which provide a livable breathing space inside. Even beneath the see-through sinks have plants. This was intentional, according to Yani, since they do a lot of grilling inside the store.
Yani’s husband, Delman, whose family started the business, was very hands on with the food preparation as he did the grilling himself. It’s good to know that this is another homegrown local business that is truly Bacolodnon.
The price is affordable, too, so families can get to enjoy a meal or two in this store while shopping or malling. And, yes, they still have that stall in 888 Mall.
