Plus other resorts in Camotes Islands!
Our trip to Camotes Islands (READ: First-time in Camotes Islands) was one great adventure as we hit the road and traveled by sea to get from one island to another. Camotes is an exquisite beauty, another gem in the Visayas part of the Philippines. The raw and natural vibe of the place is worth noting, as I have listed down in my 10 Things to See and Do in Camotes post.
Wondering where to stay in Camotes Islands? There are many options. In any travel adventure, especially to a place you haven’t been before, a decent accommodation is part of it, whether you go for the luxurious type or one that fits your budget. We have our standards of what decent is, mind you, but we were fortunate to have found a home in Masamayor’s Beach House and Resort. We also checked the other accommodations in Camotes while we were there and here are some that you can consider when you also plan to head to that part of Cebu.

When we arrived at the port of Consuelo, we followed the directions right outside the port and drove towards Barangay Santiago. It was about 20 minutes from the port until we got to Masamayor’s Beach House and Resort (MBHR). No less than the owner himself was at the reception area to welcome us. As we checked in, we immediately ordered lunch (we opted to have it served by the beach instead of their restaurant at the second floor of the resort) and asked for assistance for our itinerary. As guests, we were given access to their Wi-Fi connection for free.
Mr. Masamayor eagerly listed down the attractions we can visit for two days, which we could compress in a day. His friend Alrie offered to accompany us during our tour. Having agreed on the itinerary, we opted for lunch before we got settled in our room, which was a family room.
The good thing about Masamayor’s Beach House and Resort is that they have an all day breakfast at Php100/set while meals with rice range from Php95 to Php110. They offer some Palawan delicacies because Mr. Masamayor’s wife was from there. They also allowed us to cook the fish and seafood we bought from the market during our dinner. We just paid a certain amount for the service.
Our family room had two beds wherein two people can share each bed. There’s also a bench at one side where an extra person can lie or it can be used to put our things on, although a table with two chairs and shelves are also available. The only thing with our room, we had to go down a few steps. The bath and toilet is quite small. And we also had to go up a few steps to get into it. But apart from it, the resort is very homey. A TV is also available in the room.
It’s positive point is that it is very near the beach, just a stone’s throw away from the shore of Santiago Bay. Even if it doesn’t have other amenities, such as pool or spa, its proximity to the beach is something worth considering. Just walk around Santiago Bay and you will find restaurants and eatery at one end of the beach.

Mangodlong Rock Resort is a private resort with direct access to the rock and the beach. However, outsiders can come in for day use. It has a restaurant that offers a wide menu. There’s also a small pool for kids and adults. At the rock, there’s a giant octopus figure that is used a slide that leads to the sea. The staff showed us one of their rooms and it is neat, the toilet is spacious, and the room smells wonderfully.

This resort is managed by the same company as Mangodlong Rock Resort. It is situated on a cliff. The property is wide and it has two swimming pools that are overlooking the sea. We checked some of the rooms and their sizes are average, not too cramped nor too wide. The only downside here is that you have to climb down a series of stairs to get to the beachfront, which may not be friendly to the elderly or PWDs.
So far, we made the right choice with Masamayor’s Beach House and Resort. There are many more resorts in Camotes Islands. But if you want to go rough and wild, and more budget-friendly, you can just build a tent at Santiago Bay where there are also many campers spend the night under the stars.
where is the best place to stay if i want to snorkel from the shore…not rent a boat… older woman traveling solo.
thanks !
Masamayor is near the shore. There are other resorts right beside Masamayor. There are nicer resorts a few distance away, but they are on a cliff and you have to take the stairs to get to the beach area.
