The Day We Dressed Like A Viking

It was the National Vikings Day, which celebrated the 5th year anniversary of Vikings, the popular luxury buffet restaurant in the Philippines. To thank their patrons, they gave 50% off on their rates as long as customers come donning a Viking traditional costume or a touch of any of those – helmets, head dress, shields and swords, capes, or any Viking accessory or garment.

There goes the buffet.

For us bloggers, we were treated by Vikings SM City Bacolod so we could partake on the celebration.  So we came with our head dresses. My fellow bloggers printed out what looked like a Viking helmet. Since my printer doesn’t have a colored printer here’s what I did (which is along the lines of “how to make a Viking head dress”).

1.) I got my black multi-functional buff.  Since it was long, I folded it to make it shorter then tied it at one end. I reversed my buff to make it look like a bonnet.

I tied one end of my buff and reversed it so that this part will not show.

2.) I printed a black and white Viking helmet that I Googled in the internet on a clean paper. I cut it and pasted on top of it some gold card boards to add color and make the paper stiffen.

3.) I stapled my cut outs on my buff and, viola, I have my Viking helmet!

There, I was ready to go to the National Vikings Day. And when I got to Vikings, I was fascinated with the kids who came in full gear, with cape, swords, shields, and all.

When our fellow blogger, Jojo Vito, who is known for the beautiful Masskara masks he creates, came with his own version, we were like kids posing as Viking warriors trying on his well-done Viking mask.

Of course, the spotlight of the celebration is the wide array of food served in the buffet stations.

I started with the Japanese food.

I tried the paella, too!

It was a day we truly enjoyed. And if this the Viking way of thanking us, I am extremely grateful and from the bottom of my heart, a big “Thank You” is in order.

P.S.

If you missed the National Vikings Day, the graduation promo is still ongoing until May 31, 2016. (Read more on this at the bottom of this post: How to Eat Like a Viking in Vikings).

  1. I bet this was such a great event! You did a great job building that Viking helmet by yourself. Also, the food looks amazing, I get hungry just by looking at it. I bet that Viking cake was delicious

  2. I love the effort that you put into that helmet! I haven’t been to Vikings in a while and this post is making me crave for their food! Too bad it was just a one day event, I would’ve loved to see people in Vikings costumes too! 😛

  3. It’s cool that you have Vikings Day on Philippines! Those Vikings hats are really cute too. I was debating on buying one (or ten) when i was in Stockholm. And the food looks absolutely delicious! I like the diversity of cuisines.

  4. Yay! we planned to try that event too but ended up not joining 😉 im an avid fan of Vikings Buffet though. I love the effort that you have in that helmet! Try NIU by Vikings at SM Aura it’s really nice then.

  5. Effor kung effort ang Helmet! I was thinking however will I create a great helmet for this vikings day, but I ran out of ideas. Hence I wasn’t able to come. I miss the wide variety of sushi that they always bring out to their buffet… and the Carving station… 🙁 I usually frequent the MOA branch or the SMBF branch when I feel that I want to eat like a viking 🙂
